After pissing on its own bonfire a bit last night with a statement telling players to expect “spectacular issues”, Fallout 76‘s much-anticipated B.E.T.A. will be live for the first time today, between 10 am and 2 pm AEDT. In celebration of this debut public showing, 19 new screenshots have been released by Bethesda, highlighting the scope of Appalachia, the West Virginia-derived world that Fallout 76 takes place in.

In case it’s slipped your memory, Fallout 76 is something of a trailblazer–there will not be a single human NPC in the entire game. All other surviving humans in Appalachia will be other human players, with their own copy of the game. Apart from opening up a whole Pandora’s box of potential bugs and net issues, this idea is something that we’ve not really seen before (at least, not in a title that’s not a traditional MMORPG) and could be something brilliant–and if anyone can pull it off, it’d be Bethesda.
