Hot on the heels of crowning Finnish team ENCE the Rainbow Six Pro League Season 2 champions last weekend in Sao Paolo, Ubisoft have today officially confirmed that their competitive FPS Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege will be receiving a third year of official support and content. Year 3 will be segmented into four seasons, each of which will introduce two new operators for a total of 8 throughout the year. The first season will be called Operation Chimera. The operators coming in Chimera, one from France and one from Russia, will be specialists in biohazard situations, and will also be involved in the simultaneous introduction of Outbreak, Rainbow Six Siege’s first co-operative event ever. Outbreak will be available for four weeks and will bring along a collection of event-exclusive cosmetic items. As well as the eight new operators, Year 3 will also bring 2 new maps, one set in Morocco and one in Italy, as well as see an old map reworked with a “new level design and art direction.” The Italian map will be introduced in Season 2 alongside two Italian operators, and the Moroccan map in Season 4 alongside two–you guessed it–Moroccan operators. The rework will space them apart, in Season 3, and will come with one British and one American operator. The instant unlock Year 2 season pass for immediate access to all eight operators from last year (as well as exclusive cosmetics) will continue to be available until December 11. After this date, the operators are always available to unlock with credits earned by playing the game, and the time needed to unlock new operators without spending cash isn’t ridiculous, nor are the more expensive operators overpowered and/or necessary. The Year 2 cosmetics, however, will cease to be available after December 11. Operation White Noise, the fourth and final season of Year 2, will be released for season pass holders on December 5th and for everyone on December 12th, introducing three new operators and a new map, Tower. The Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege Year 3 season pass will become available on December 12. More information about Operation Chimera and Outbreak will be revealed during the Six Invitational 2018, the biggest R6S tournament so far, to be held in Montreal between the 13th and 18th of February next year.
