So, apparently, it will not be a crime to bypass the internet filter that Communications minister Stephen Conroy is planning on introducing to Australia. No fines, or gaol time, or anything. It will be completely and perfectly legal. Which begs the question – what the fuck is the point of making the filter in the first place? People will bypass it, then teach others how to bypass it, and eventually everyone will have third-party programs in their computers to bypass the filter, and no one will actually have the filter functioning on their computer. What a waste of money and argument.
This website also opened my eyes to the fact that any euthanasia-related material will, under the proposed filter, be blocked to all Australians. This thing is a joke.
